Jeff Sherwood | Owner

Jeff has always been interested in building.  Even from childhood, he showed interest in building things and how things were put together.  Throughout high school, his love for building and wood working really expanded.  He recognized that this was a passion of his and really wanted to grow his skills.

After graduating from Calvin Christian High School and Kent Career Technical Center, he attended Grand Rapids Community College for Business, while working with some talented carpenters.  He learned so much during these years all while being mentored by professionals.  Jeff knew that one day he would own his own company.

In 2007, Jeff made his dreams come true, and he decided to start his own company.  This was a difficult decision because of the state of the economy, however, Jeff trusted God and knew this was what he was called to do.  With the support of many, Sherwood Custom Homes, LLC began.

Now Sherwood Custom Homes, LLC is a business that continues to grow and has a history of wonderful customers.  Jeff loves designing and building what people will soon call their own.  His attention to detail and passion for custom woodwork is shown each day.

Jeff continues to pour his hard work into each project.  He loves every aspect of building – working on-sight, being in the office, and meeting with customers.  His good communication skills and honesty build a great working relationship.

Kristen

Kristen Sherwood | Accounting

Kristen grew up in the Caledonia area and attended South Christian High School.  After high school, she continued her education at Calvin College to obtain her Teaching Degree, and during those years she studied abroad in Spain for a semester.  Once having graduated from Calvin College, Kristen began teaching at Dutton Christian School.  When their first child was born, Jeff and Kristen decided that she would stay home with their children.
 
Over the years, Sherwood Custom Homes, LLC has grown and this subsequently led to Kristen gaining more responsibility in the office.  She currently works as book keeper.
Chad

Chad Klumpstra | Custom Woodshop Manager

Native to West Michigan, Chad is a second generation carpenter with over 20 years of finishing and trim carpentry experience. Chad takes pride in the smallest of details all while having fun and mentoring others around him by example.After High School Chad joined the marine corps reserves and served as engineer support and was activated to Iraq in ‘03.
 
He currently lives in Marne, MI with his wife and two young kids. Chad enjoys lots of hobbies including ...you guessed it - wood working, family camping on the beach, and snowboarding.
Tammy

Tammy Vanderkam | Office Manager

Tammy loves the building process and seeing a home go from the planning stage to a beautifully, completed dream home.  She also loves spreadsheets!  She is excited to be part of the Sherwood Custom Homes team and officially joined in March of 2018.  She is excited to be using her God given talents in this way after being a stay at home mom for many years.
 
She and and her husband have been blessed with 3 great kids.  She loves family time, family projects and summer!  She grew up in the Cutlerville area and attended South Christian High School.

Jennie Sale | Interior Designer

Jennie has always had a passion for design ever since she was young. One of her dreams was to work for a builder! She grew up in Hudsonville and she currently lives there with her husband and Chocolate Lab. Jennie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Baker College of Muskegon, and she worked in the furniture and tile world upon graduation.

Just recently, Jennie joined the Sherwood Team in February of 2020.  Jennie is excited to be able to have a working relationship with the clients and help their visions come to life.  She can’t wait to see and be a part of the design process from beginning to end.

Justin Keely | Project Manager

Born and raised in Caledonia, Justin has always had a passion for building and hands on work. Justin has been with us since 2013 upon graduation from Caledonia High School. He then went and earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Western Michigan University and brought his skills back to SCH as project manager where you can find him onsite. Justin enjoys the relationships he gains with clients as their dream home is unveiled and the teamwork camaraderie with his peers.

Away from work, Justin loves to travel and enjoy all the sunshine he can get. He currently lives in Grandville with hopes of building a home in the near future....and is single.

Denise Lemmen | Interior Designer

Denise grew up in west Michigan in an artistic family. She has always enjoyed drawing and creating, but it wasn’t until taking a college art course that Denise considered that her artistic ability could become more than just a hobby. She graduated as valedictorian with her Bachelors in Fine Art, Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2003.

After many years of being a stay at home mom to her and her husband’s three children, and taking on occasional freelance design projects, Denise began praying for an opportunity to use her design skills in a formal job setting. She is excited to now be a part of the Sherwood team! Denise enjoys the process and challenge of custom design and collaborating with clients to help them create unique spaces that function well for them.

Dutch

"Dutch" | Greeter

Dutch holds down the fort and brings a youthful energy to the office. When he's not sleeping, cuddling, or staring down whatever you're eating for lunch, he enjoys lots of playtime with the Sherwood kids.
